Auditions for Up The Down Staircase:
No acting or theater experience is required to audition, just a love and passion for theater!
If you are not cast, do not give up! There are many reasons for casting, and you are encouraged to keep trying!
Each director has different criteria for each audition
- Be prepared to sing a song from the show and/or a dramatic Broadway type song.
- Please try to keep your selection to 1 to 2 minutes maximum
- Small portions of backing trax are available for audition purposes.
- A keyboard will be provided.
- An accompanist will NOT be provided.
- You may use a backing track (no lead vocals).
- You must bring your own CD.
- A sound system will be provided. Please be aware that some home burned CDs will not play in some CD players. We do not have a backup CD player. If you have a CD player you can bring that you know plays your CD it is suggest to bring it with you as a backup
- If you are able to bring a USB Flash Drive with an MP3 of your backing track we can put it into our computer system and play it from that - Please come at least 30 minutes early to get your MP3 loaded if you choose this option.
- It is suggested to not sing A cappella
- If call backs are held you will be asked to sing a portion of a song from the show.
